Bearkats shine in UH Indoor Meet

Victories in the 200 meter dash, the 4x400 relay and the long jump highlighted action for the Sam Houston men's track and field team at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Meet hosted Friday by the University of Houston.
Fourth place finishes by Alyssa Dooley in the 800 meter run, Shelbie Zotyka in the pole vault, Taylor Sanders in the 200 meters and Ashley Jenkins in the weight throw were among the top performances for the Sam Houston women in the meet.
The UH meet was the second on the Bearkats' indoor schedule this winter.
The Bearkat men's 4x400 relay quartet of Trey Jones, Rodney Jones, Leroy Harris and Brian Hellaire took gold to won with a mark of 3:17.54.
Jarrick Wright won the 200 with a time of 22.61 seconds. Wright also finished fourth in the men's 60 meter dash (6.98). Leroy Harris placed third in the 60 with a time of 6.90 and was fourth in the 200 with a 23.00 clocking.
Charles White won the long jump with a leap of 23 feet, 2.5 inches. Trevor Sealy (56' 11.5"), Brek Christensen (56' 7.25") and Ammaad McCarthy (52' 4.75") placed second, third and fourth in the men's weight throw. Matthew Viverette and Matthew Johnson both performed well in the 60 meter hurdles. Viverette was third in the semifinals (8:07) and Johnson was fourth in the semis (8.12) and fifth in the finals (8.31). Hellaire and Rodney and Trey Jones were third, fourth and fifth in the 400 meters with times of 49.29, 49.47 and 49.58, respectively.
Dooley posted a 2:17.39 clocking in the 800 meters. Zotyka's fourth place pole vault mark was 12 feet, 5.5 inches. Jenkins' weight throw mark was 54 feet, eight inches. Sanders ran 25.39 in the 200 meters. Jenkins placed eighth in the shot put (37' 1.25"). Adrienne Quillin was sixth in the weight throw (52' 2.75") and seventh in the shot (39' 7"). Elizabeth Ene was sixth in the 200 meters (25.56) Ruth Amaku placed seventh in the 400 meter dash (58.44). Nicole Jenrette placed eighth in the high jump (5' 1"). Kara Whitson and Katelyn Wynn were seventh and eighth in the pole vault (11' 1.75").
