GoBearkats.com on Neulion celebrates its sixth birthday today.
On Oct. 17, 2007, GoBearkats.com launched its coverage of Sam Houston State University intercollegiate athletics with current internet provider Neulion.
Since that date, the web site has published 6,461 articles (including press releases, game recaps, feature stories and player biographies) written by the Bearkat media relations staff.
Bearkat Sports Network, the multimedia and broadcast arm of GoBearkats.com, has presented 614 live audio and video events and 835 video highlights, press conferences, interviews and feature packages during the past six years.
“Our web site provides a great window for our fans to see the accomplishments of our quality student-athletes, coaches and staff who represent our university,” Sam Houston Director of Athletics Bobby Williams said. “Our web site is the best place to find news and information on all of our sports and student athletes.”
GoBearkats.com has followed each of the 17 intercollegiate sports teams at Sam Houston event by event. During the web site's six years, the Bearkats have won nine Southland Conference championships and made 11 NCAA post-season tournament appearances.
The web site also has chronicled Bearkat student-athletes' successes off the field as well as the department has set outstanding academic records as well.
Fans also are reminded the GoBearkats.com mobile app is available for android devices and iPhones.
