Sam Houston No. 7 in Sports Network Poll

Sam Houston State stands No. 7 in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 and No. 8 in the FCS Coaches rankings announced Monday.
The Bearkats, formerly No. 2, lost to No. 9 McNeese State 31-23 last Saturday in Lake Charles, La. Sam Houston now stands 5-2 for the year and 1-1 in Southland Conference play.
McNeese State jumped to No. 4 in the Sports Network rankings. The Cowboys stand in the seventh spot in the coaches' poll.
North Dakota State remains No. 1 in both polls with their 7-0 record. Eastern Washington is the No. 2 team in the Sports Network rankings. Eastern Illinois is No. 2 in the coaches poll.
Sam Houston has been ranked among the FCS top 25 for 32 consecutive weeks. The team debuted in the national poll Sept. 9, 2011.
The Bearkats have ranked among the FCS top 10 for 28 consecutive polls.
Sam Houston returns to Elliott T. Bowers Stadium to play host to Northwestern State Saturday at 2 p.m.
