Volleyball Travels To SFA Thursday

Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin renew their long volleyball rivalry Thursday at 7 p.m. in Nacogdoches.
The Bearkats come into the contest one-half game out of first place. Central Arkansas leads the Southland volleyball race with a 9-0 record. Sam Houston is in second place at 9-1 and Northwestern State is right behind at 8-1. The Bearkats bring a season mark of 12-7 into the fray.
Stephen F. Austin is 4-5 in league action and 12-10 for the year.
The Bearkats and the Lumberjacks split last year. SFA won in five sets in their first meeting in Nacogdoches. The Kats bounced back to manhandle the Jacks in three sets in the rematch in Huntsville.
Junior outside hitter Deveney Wells-Gibson and seniors setter Tayler Gray and middle blocker Haley Neisler continue to lead Sam Houston State.
Senior Lauren Bohlen, sophomore Carling Urben and freshmen Breana Homer and Shelby Genung provide a strong supporting cast as well.
Sam Houston and Northwestern State clash Saturday afternoon in Natchitoches.
The Bearkats return home on Thursday Oct. 31 to play host to Oral Roberts then play first place UCA Saturday Nov. 2.
