Fieilo Named Defensive Player of the Week

Sam Houston State linebacker Eric Fieilo has been named as Southland Conference “Defensive Player of the Week.”
Fieilo led the Bearkat defense with 11 tackles in Sam Houston State's 44-10 victory over Northwestern State last Saturday. The senior from Euless, Texas (Trinity H.S.), made five solo stops and assisted on six tackles.
The Sam Houston State defense produced two turnovers and limited the Demons to 4-and-13 on third down while giving up only a touchdown and a field goal in the game.
Fieilo leads Sam Houston with 58 tackles and has 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack and an interception.
This week is the 88th “Battle of the Piney Woods” at Reliant Stadium. Tickets for the Nov. 2 contest which kicks off at 3 p.m. are available online at www.gobearkats.com . The SHSU ticket office located in the Ron Mafrige Field House at Bowers Stadium will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 5p.m. Monday through Friday.
