Bearkats Drop to No. 8/9 in Polls

Sam Houston State stands No. 8 in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 and No. 9 in the FCS Coaches rankings announced Monday.
The Bearkats (6-2), formerly No. 7, defeated Northwestern State 44-10 last Saturday in Huntsville but Towson (8-1) moved ahead of them with their 48-32 win at Richmond.
Last week the Kats were tied with Fordham at No. 8 in the Coaches poll but sit ninth this week after Fordham was idle.
North Dakota State remains No. 1 in both polls with their 8-0 record. Eastern Washington is the No. 2 team in the Sports Network rankings while Eastern Illinois is No. 2 in the coaches poll.
SHSU is joined in the polls by McNeese State (No. 4/7), Central Arkansas (No.15/18) and ranked for the first time this season, Southeastern Louisiana (No. 25/25).
This week is the 88th “Battle of the Piney Woods” at Reliant Stadium. Tickets for the Nov. 2 contest which kicks off at 3 p.m. are available online at www.gobearkats.com . The SHSU ticket office located in the Ron Mafrige Field House at Bowers Stadium will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 5p.m. Monday through Friday.
