NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Just five days after winning in overtime on the road, the Bearkats found themselves on the opposite end of an overtime result. Northwestern State bagged the game-winner in the 109th minute to drop the Kats to 4-6-1 and 2-2 in Southland play.
Tricia Mallory got the game into overtime with a goal less than five minutes from the end of regulation. Mallory totaled three shots in the game and was able to force to saves from the Demon goalkeeper.
“We are very disappointed with the result tonight,” Bearkat head coach Tom Brown said. “We felt like we played good soccer but just could not finish our chances. I thought we did a good job of fighting to get our goal towards the end of the game to force overtime.
SHSU outshot Northwestern State22-15 in the game but the Kats only managed to get eight of their efforts on target. The Kats 'keeper Kylie Hambleton was forced to make seven saves.
Sam Houston controlled the match during the second half and first overtime period with 17 shots to Northwestern State's one, but the Lady Demons regained control in the end finishing the match with six unanswered.

The Kats will host Stephen F. Austin Sunday at 1 p.m. and the first 100 students in attendance will get free food from Pita Pit.
