Women 4th & men 6th at Southland cross country

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- The Sam Houston women finished fourth while the men placed sixth at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by McNeese State.
Alyssa Dooley led the Bearkat women with an 11th place finish, receiving Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Dooley finished the 6K run in 22:08.0.
Karl Schreiber was the top runner for the SHSU men's team. He placed 19th running a time of 26:12.1 on the 8K course.
Five of the seven women finished in the top-35 of the 102 runners in the field. Miranda Prado was 18th, Nicole Aponte was 28th, Olivia Olguin was 32nd and Ana Moreno was 35th.
Four Bearkat men placed in the top-35 in the field of nearly 100 runners. Palo Ponce was 24th, Ryan Saam was 29th and Logan Tery was 44th.
Next up for the Bearkats is a possible trip to the NCAA Regionals, Nov. 15th.
