SHSU Up To No. 6 In Sports Network Poll

Sam Houston moved up two spots to No. 6 in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 and No. 7 in the FCS Coaches rankings announced Monday.
The Bearkats (7-2) defeated Stephen F. Austin 56-49 Saturday in the 88th “Battle of the Piney Woods” rivalry game at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
Three other Southland squads are in at least one of the polls.
McNeese State (7-2) is No. 10 in the Sports Network and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll. Southeastern Louisiana (7-2) rated No. 16 by Sports Network and No. 17 by the coaches. Central Arkansas (5-4) is tied for No. 24 in the Coaches Poll.
Sam Houston has been ranked among the FCS top 25 for 34 consecutive weeks. The team debuted in the national poll Sept. 9, 2011.
The Bearkats have ranked among the FCS top 10 for 30 consecutive polls.
Sam Houston's next opponent is Nicholls State. The Bearkats play host to the Colonels in their final regular season game of the year at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium at 2 p.m. Saturday.
