Academic All-Southland Bearkat Duo

Sam Houston State's Tayler Gray and Deveney Wells-Gibson have been named to the 2013 Academic All-Southland honor squad.
Both student-athletes have earned their second consecutive selection to the Academic All-League squad.
Gray and Wells-Gibson also were first-team All-Southland Conference players after leading the Bearkats to a 14-4 record and a third place finish in league play.
Wells-Gibson, a San Antonio product, led the Southland in kill per set (4.62), which ranks 10th nationally. She has compiled a 3.74 overall grade point average as a general business administration major.
Gray, a Huntsville, Texas, native, finished third in the league in assists per set (10.83) and 15th in digs per set (3.51). Gray already has earned her bachelor's degree in health and is currently working on a second degree in kinesiology. She holds a 3.83 overall GPA as a Bearkat.
Wells-Gibson and Gray both helped lead Sam Houston into the Southland Conference post-season tournament for the seventh year in a row and the 19th time in the Bearkats' 26 seasons in the league.
The members of the annual Academic All-Southland Conference team are voted upon by the league's volleyball head coaches, academic coordinators and sports information directors.
