Hammond, La. – Despite victories at the number one, two and five singles, Sam Houston fell 4-3 to Southeastern Louisiana Saturday in a Southland Conference women's tennis dual match.

Tanya Postnikova defeated Nastya Tokareva in her first match this season at the number one position, winning 6-2 6-2. Sheridan Currie defeated Reginka Nychytailova 6-2 1-6 6-2 at number two. Maddie Mortimore earned a 6-1 6-1 win over Adriana Castillo at number five singles.

With the match tied at 3-3 after the Lions took the doubles point and won at number three and four singles, Isabel Brito picked up the decisive victory at number six singles with a 7-6 6-3 win.

Postnikova and Nadia Dubyanskaya paired to win the number one doubles pro set by an 8-2 score. Southeastern won the two and three doubles.

Sam Houston returns to Huntsville to play host to Lamar on Saturday April 6 and McNeese State on Sunday April 7 in its next two women's tennis matches. Both contests will start at 2 p.m. at the McAdams Tennis Center.
