The Sam Houston women's soccer team completed its spring training with a 2-2-1 record against teams from the Big East, Conference USA, Southeastern and Southwestern Athletic conferences.
The highlight of the spring schedule included Sam Houston's first soccer victory ever over the University of Houston Cougars.
In a loss to Texas A&M, the Bearkats scored the only goal given up by the Aggies during A&M's spring schedule.
“The spring season gave a lot of players who did not play many minutes in the fall, a chance to get game time,” Sam Houston head coach Tom Brown said. “This is a very valuable preparation time for us.
“Kaisa Marshall, a Memphis transfer, played very well and brought a different dimension to our attack. We had a completely new back four and they gave a very good accounting of themselves.”
Other teams the Bearkats faced during their spring schedule included Texas-San Antonio, Prairie View A&M and Hill College.
“We are building towards our exhibition game against Louisiana-Lafayette in mid-August before opening the season at home against Texas Southern on August 25,” Brown said.
The soccer team will start pre-season camp on August 9.
