Coaches rank Kats #13, Sports Network #14

For the eighth time in Sam Houston State's 28 seasons of FCS play, the Bearkats have been voted among the final national top 25 rankings.
The Kats stand No. 13 in the NCAA Coaches' FCS poll and No. 14 by the Sports Network.
Sam Houston posted a 9-5 overall record in 2013, earning the program's third consecutive FCS playoff berth. The Bearkats stand as one of only three FCS programs to participate in the post-season playoffs each of the past three years.
The Kats' nine victories in 2013 marked only the 10th time in Sam Houston's 97 years of football that the Bearkats have rolled up nine or more wins in one season.
One of the top highlights of the 2013 season was a victory over Eastern Washington when the Eagles were ranked No. 2 in the nation. EWU stands No. 3 in both final national polls after reaching the NCAA semifinals. Sam Houston also topped No. 21 Southern Utah in the opening round of the FCS playoffs.
