Bearkats Back In The FCS Top 25

Sam Houston is back in the top 25 in both FCS national polls after a two-week absence.
Following a 38-22 upset of No. 4 McNeese State Saturday in Huntsville, the Bearkats stand No. 24 in The Sports Network poll and No. 25 in the NCAA Coaches' poll.
The Bearkats fell out of both polls after their open date a week following their loss to Colorado State-Pueblo. Until that Monday two weeks ago, Sam Houston had been ranked nationally for 43 consecutive polls (dating back to the 2011 season).
Southeastern Louisiana now stands as the Southland Conference's highest ranked team. With a 5-2 record, the Lions stand No. 8 in both polls.
McNeese State dropped to No. 10 in the Coaches poll and No.11 in The Sports Network poll. The Cowboys stand 3-2 for the season. Their only other loss came at the hands of Nebraska in McNeese's season opener.
Southeastern Louisiana and Central Arkansas, both 3-0 in league action, join Sam Houston (2-0) as the only league teams still unbeaten in Southland play.
The Bearkats do not play the Lions this season. Sam Houston plays host to Central Arkansas in Huntsville on Saturday, November 23, on the final weekend of the regular season.
The Lions and the Bears face off this Saturday, October 18, in Hammond, La. McNeese and Southeastern Louisiana play Saturday, November 15, also in Hammond.
