Angela Beadle Named Preseason All-Southland

Angela Beadle, the Bearkats' 6-3 senior center, has been named as a first team selection on the 2015 preseason All-Southland Conference honor squad.
Beadle begins her senior season ranked No. 6 in Sam Houston career rebounds (677), No. 3 in career blocks (121) and No. 17 in all-time scoring (858).
Last year the Austin Crockett High School product earned All-Southland Conference, Academic All-Southland and team “Most Valuable Player” recognition as a junior.
She ranked second in the league in rebounds with 300 and was the SHSU women's leading scorer, averaging 15.8 per game.
Beadle scored in double figures 26 of her 29 games including career bests of 34 points at Southeastern Louisiana and 30 at Rice.
Eight universities are represented on the 2015 preseason teams, led by two selections from Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin. Nicholls, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Sam Houston State, Lamar and Southeastern Louisiana each had one student-athlete representing their school.
The 2014-15 season begins Friday, Nov. 14, when nine Southland teams take the floor. Conference play tips off Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. The 2015 Southland Conference Basketball Tournament will return for its eighth season at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas, March 12-15.
