Peters & Ransom Preseason All-League

Jabari Peters and Kaheem Ransom of Sam Houston State have been selected to the 2015 men's basketball preseason All-Southland Conference team.
Peters, a 6-4 guard from Brooklyn, NY, is a first team selection. Ransom, a 6-1 guard from Wichita, Kansas is a second team honoree.
Both players came to Sam Houston as transfers from Seward County Community College and paired to lead the Bearkats to a 24-11 record, the finals of the Southland post-season tournament and a berth in the CollegeInsider.com post-season tournament.
Peters was voted as Southland Conference "Newcomer of the Year" and was a third team All-Southland selection last year. He also was named to 2014 Southland All-Tournament team in Katy.
Peters led the Bearkats in scoring with 441 points (12.6 per game). He totaled double figures in 22 games including five games with more than 20 points.
Ransom also was a third-team all-league honoree and named all-tournament last year in Katy. He started all 35 games, averaging 30.8 minutes per contest and scoring 406 points.
Ransom posted double figure performances in 19 games. His season best was 23 in season-opening victory at Texas-Pan American.
Six institutions placed at least one student-athlete on the two teams, including four schools that placed two. Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Sam Houston State each placed two student-athletes on the all-conference teams while UIW and McNeese State placed one student-athlete on the preseason squads.
The 2014-15 season begins Friday, Nov. 14 with conference play starting up Jan. 3. The 2015 Southland Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be held March 11-14, at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas, and will feature an eight-team single-elimination format.
