Important Information for "Piney Woods" Fans

The 89th “Battle of the Piney Woods” is here as another record crowd is expected for the annual matchup between Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston.

This year's game matches Sam Houston against a Stephen F. Austin team that is ranked No. 23 in the FCS polls in a showdown with championship implications for the Southland Conference. Four of the last five years, the winner of the “Battle of the Piney Woods” has gone on to win the league title.
Important information notes for Bearkat fans:
• Interstate 45 will be closed at the Highway 242 exit from 7 p.m. Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday morning, so leave early or take an alternate route
• Tickets still remain (but are going fast). Fans may purchase tickets online at www.gobearkats.com until 7 a.m. Saturday.
• NRG parking lots will open at 11 a.m. Saturday. Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the NRG Stadium ticket office before kickoff
• SHSU Will Call is at the Ford Gate. Will Call will open at 11 a.m.
• Recommended parking for Sam Houston fans is in the Blue Lot off Kirby Drive. SHSU fans should be conscious that there are other events on the grounds both before and after the game that may affect traffic patterns.
• The Official Bearkat Tailgate is in Blue Lot 22 starting at 12 noon.
• Bearkat football team enters stadium during "Spirit Walk" throught the Plaza at 1 p.m.
• A pregame concert and festivities are scheduled in the Plaza at 1:00 p.m.
• NRG Stadium Gates open at 1:30 p.m.
• Tailgating concludes prior to kickoff and fans will be directed into the stadium
• Kick Off is at 3:00 p.m.
• $1 Hot Dogs all game
• All fans must be out of parking lots one hour after the game
