
Four seniors to be honored Sunday

Four seniors will be playing in their final home games this weekend when the Bearkats host Houston Baptist Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Nicholls State at 1 p.m. Sunday. Madison Bible, Ashley Fluty, Megan Manis and Jessica Toms will be honored in a pregame ceremony before Sunday's regular-season finale.
The Kats are playing to lock up the second-seed and a first-round bye in the Southland Conference tournament, which gets started November 6 in Beaumont.
A mainstay for the Bearkats for four seasons, Bible has played in more than 70 games and racked up over 2,500 minutes played. Bible has four assists in her career but it wasn't until the 14th game of this season that she scored her first career goal, a match-winner against Central Arkansas. She has now scored twice in the last three games.
The San Angelo Central High School product is an interdisciplinary studies major and has compiled a 3.73 overall GPA.
Fluty has been a regular starter since her freshman season. She has played in more than 70 matches for Sam Houston and been on the field for more than 5,500 minutes played. She scored a memorable goal against SFA in the conference tournament semifinal last season.
An outstanding student-athlete, the Northwest High School product has a 3.92 overall GPA as a health major.
Megan Manis has played multiple roles for the Bearkats in her four years. She came to Sam Houston as a forward and scored three times her freshman season before converting to defense as a junior last season. Manis has played in every game the last two seasons and has filled an important role for the Kats as an outside back.
A product of Dickinson High School, Manis is a kinesiology major with a 2.94 overall GPA.
Jessica Toms overcame a serious knee injury to return for her senior season and has played some important minutes for the Kats. She has appeared in a total of 40 matches as a forward for Sam Houston. Toms has scored four goals and assisted on four goals in her Bearkat career.
The Mabank High School product is a psychology major and has compiled a 3.33 overall GPA.
