
Southland TV to air SHSU vs Central Arkansas

Central Arkansas and Sam Houston State meet Saturday at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas, on the Southland Conference Television Network Game of the Week.
It is the final matchup of the syndicated network's 10-game football schedule. Coverage begins at 12:30 p.m., CT, and will be carried by more than 20 affiliates across the region, plus national and online outlets.
The Bearkats are looking to claim at least a share of the conference championship with a win against Bears and move to 7-1 in conference and 8-5 overall. The Bears will try to finish their first season under head coach Steve Campbell with a win. UCA is currently 5-2 in conference and 6-5 overall.
Sam Houston State has won 12 consecutive conference games at home and leads the league in rushing offense with 261.4 yards per game.
The Bearkats are led by senior running back Keshawn Hill and sophomore quarterback Jared Johnson. Hill averages 68.8 yards per game rushing while dual-threat quarterback Johnson averages 62.4 yards on the ground and 186.6 yards per game in the air.
Defensively, Sam Houston is led by freshman defensive end P.J. Hall, a Jerry Rice Award Watch List candidate. Hall ranks second in the Southland with 18 tackles for loss. He also has six sacks, two blocked kicks, one interception, five pass breakups and one forced fumble.
Central Arkansas can clinch their fifth consecutive winning season with a win The Bears are led by senior quarterback Ryan Howard, who has thrown for 2,045 yards and 19 touchdowns on 173 of 257 passing.
Senior wide receiver Dezmin Lewis is Howard's prime target, hauling in 56 catches for 840 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, the Bears rank fifth in the nation in tackles for loss thanks in large part to junior defensive end Jonathan Woodard, a Buck Buchanan Award Watch List candidate. Woodward leads the conference with 18.5 tackles for a loss, including 10.0 sacks, which rank 12th and 15th in the nation, respectively.
Randy McIlvoy, sports director at KPRC-TV in Houston, will handle play-by-play duties and will be joined in the booth by color analyst Shea Walker, a former Texas A&M receiver and veteran broadcaster. The sideline reporter will be Brooke Bentley, a sports anchor for KUBE-TV, the Southland affiliate in Houston.
The local outlet for the telecast in the Greater Houston area is The KUBE Channel 57.

The list of Louisiana markets includes Alexandria on KLAX (31.2), Baton Rouge on WBTR (41), Lafayette on KLFY (10.2), Lake Charles on KVHP (29.2), New Orleans on WUPL (54.1) and Shreveport on KPXJ (21.1). In Arkansas, fans can find the game in Fayetteville-Fort Smith on the Cox Channel (77/2077), Little Rock on KARZ (42.1) and Texarkana on KPXJ (21.1).
Outlets outside the Southland footprint include Altitude 2 in Colorado and surrounding states, plus the Cox Channel (3/703) in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. WJXT (4.2) is the Southland affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida. Nationwide, the game is available live on the ESPN GamePlan pay-per-view package.
All Southland TV games will be streamed live and for free on the Southland Digital Network, available via Southland.org/watch and the Southland's official mobile and tablet app for Apple and Android devices. Coverage is also accessible via ESPN3 at WatchESPN.com and on the WatchESPN application for smart phones, tablets, Xbox, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire, Roku and other devices.
Nationally, the Bears and Bearkats can be seen on Fox College Sports Central, Sunday at 5 p.m., Central. A pair of regional networks will carry the game on a delayed basis, as well. The new Root Sports Southwest has it scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 p.m., Central, across its five-state platform. In the Gulf Coast area and beyond, Cox Sports Television will feature the broadcast Monday at 7 p.m., Central.
