Guards Taylor Dorsey scored 27 points and Amanda Barnes added 22 as the Sam Houston women's basketball team defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor 85-67 in an exhibition game Saturday night at Johnson Coliseum.
The Bearkats trailed by as many as 10 points early in the first half but rallied to take a 37-34 halftime lead. Sam Houston outscored the Crusaders 48-33 in the second period.
Alyssa Dean led MHB with 16 points. Taylor Tucker added 15 and Macy Moore and Jonelle Smith scored 14 and 12, respectively.
The contest was a whistle fest with 56 fouls, 65 free throws and 43 turnovers between the two squads.
Mary Hardin-Baylor outboarded the Bearkats 51-41. Dorsey led the SHSU women with 11 boards. Jazmin Wiley and Saundra Guillory each totaled five rebounds.
Shernise Robertson was the Kats' third leading scorer with eight points. Angela Delaney assisted on seven baskets.
The Bearkats were hot from beyond the three point line, hitting eight of 18.
