Four Kats named All-Academic

Four Sam Houston State soccer players were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic teams, led by forward Allie Johnson and midfielder Shelby McDaniel on the first team. Midfielder Madison Bible and Goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton earned second-team honors.
Johnson and McDaniel were both automatic selections after being named first-team All-Southland and having an overall grade point average above 3.00.
A psychology major, Johnson posted a 3.07 GPA while also leading the league with eight goals in conference games. She is the fifth sophomore in school history to score at least eight goals. Johnson was also second on the team with three assists.
McDaniel compiled a 3.32 GPA as a general business major. The junior plays as the main creative force in the midfield for Sam Houston. She scored five goals and dished out two assists. McDaniel started all but one game this season.
Bible has a 3.73 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. A senior, she didn't score her first goal until this season. Her first goal was a game-winner in a pivotal road match at Central Arkansas. She finished the season with three goals.
A two-time All-Academic honoree, Hambleton posted a 3.92 GPA in Management Information Systems. The junior had a great end to the season with five shutouts in the final six regular-season games. Hambleton earned Honorable Mention All-Southland Honors
