Olivia Battye and Karen Martinez won at No. 1 and 5 singles to give Sam Houston its only points in a 5-2 loss to New Orleans in a Southland Conference women's dual tennis match Friday afternoon at the McAdams Center.

New Orleans, now 3-2 for the year, swept all three pro sets to take the doubles point and won at No. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles. The contest was the conference opener for the Privateers in their first season of competition in the league.

Sam Houston is 1-1 in conference action and 3-4 for the season. The Bearkats play host to Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 11 a.m.
