Eppler Named Pitcher of the Week

Sam Houston State junior right-hander Tyler Eppler has been named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Eppler allowed just one run in his second complete-game of the season in helping the Bearkats open the series against Southeastern Louisiana with a 2-1 win. The junior from Navasota, Texas (Navasota H.S.), gave up eight hits and issued only one walk in the game.
After surrendering a run in the second inning, Eppler shut down the Lion attack, holding them scoreless the rest of the way. With the win, Eppler moved to 5-5 on the season and lowered his earned run average to 4.02.
The junior received pitcher of the week honors in early March after he tossed a three-hit shutout against Cal-State Northridge.
With four consecutive wins under their belt the Kats hope to keep it rolling at Baylor on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m
Waco's Sam Houston State Alumni Club will host a pre-game rally for Bearkat fans before Tuesday's non-conference baseball game with Baylor.
The gathering will be held from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. at George's Restaurant at 1925 Speight Avenue in Waco. Food and drink specials will be available for purchase during the rally. Drawings will be held for Bearkat spirit gear.
