Triple Jump & Relay complete NCAA West for Kats

Charles White completed Sam Houston's stay at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas Saturday with a 24th place finish in the triple jump.
White posted a mark of 49' 7.75” in the event.
The Bearkat 4x100 relay quartet of Dedrick Brooks, Justin Jenkins, Rodney Jones and Jarrick Wright finished 18th with a time of 40.62. The last qualifying time to advance to the national championships in Eugene, Oregon, was 39.91 by the University of California.
Friday night, Jones finished 16th in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 46.53. De'Quad Binder placed 22nd in the 800 meters quarterfinals, finishing in 1:51.73. Brek Christensen placed 34th in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 190' 4”.
In Thursday's action, Jenkins placed 27th in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 10.58. Wright was 47th in the 100 meters with a 10.89 mark. White ended 19th in the long jump with a leap of 23' 11.75”.
The qualifiers out of the West region will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
In order to advance to the finals in Oregon, competitors must finish among the top 12 in their individual event.
