
26th Football Dinner & Auction Huge Success

The final totals are in and the 2014 Sam Houston Football Dinner and Auction stands the most successful in the 26-year history of the event.
More than $290,000 was raised for the Bearkat football program during the July 25 dinner and auction at SHSU's Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum
“What an exciting night it was,” Sam Houston head coach K. C. Keeler said. “We appreciate everyone for attending, donating auction items and supporting the Bearkat Football program. It is your contributions and support that allow us to compete at the highest level on and off the field.”
Special appreciation goes to Charlie Amato and Gary Dudley, Coca-Cola, Faust Distributing, John andd Donna Gilbert, Lonestar Liquor, John Ragsdale, and Stevenson Beer Distributing Co. for their contributions to the event.
“Sam Houston Dining Services prepared a terrific dinner,” Keeler said. “A big thank you goes to Mickey Tiner who got the event rolling with a generous $50,000 donation. Another thank you goes to the Stewart Family and everyone who contributed to our match gift initiative to improve our training room facilities.”
The 27th annual Sam Houston Football Dinner & Auction is set for Friday, July 31, 2015.
The Bearkats' 2014 football schedule begins on ESPN national television Saturday, August 23 with the FCS Kickoff showdown in Cheney, Washington, against No. 1 ranked Eastern Washington. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. Central Time.
Sam Houston plays its first home game Saturday, August 30, against Alabama State. That evening is Orange Out 2014 at Bowers. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
