Women?s basketball announces 2014-15 schedule

The 2014-15 Sam Houston State women's basketball schedule, featuring road matchups with LSU and TCU, has been announced by head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols.
The Bearkats will open the season, November 15, in Baton Rouge, La. against LSU. This will be just the third meeting between the Kats and Tigers.
Sam Houston's home opener is against Wiley College, Friday, Nov. 21 at Johnson Coliseum.
After a trip to South Dakota State on November 24, the Kats will head to Dallas to play in the SMU Thanksgiving Classic. The tournament field includes Southern California, SMU and Florida A&M.
The Bearkats will host Texas Southern (12/3) and Prairie View A&M (12/17) in the month of December. SHSU heads to Forth Worth to play TCU (12/21) and Wichita, Kan. to play Wichita State (12/28) to close out the non-conference schedule.
Southland play gets started on Saturday, January 3 at home against Incarnate Word.
SFA will come to town Jan. 24 for the first of two games against the Lumberjacks. SHSU and SFA will close the regular season against each other in Nacogdoches, March 7.
The Southland Conference Tournament will return to the Merrell Center in Katy, March 11-14, for the eighth consecutive season.
The Bearkats will be looking to return to the heights of the 2012 season, when they won their first ever Southland women's basketball title.
Last season's leading scorer and rebounder Angela Beadle returns for her senior season. Beadle was named All-Southland as a junior and begins her senior season ranked No. 6 in career rebounds (677), No. 3 in career blocks (121) and No. 17 in all-time scoring (858) at Sam Houston.
Guards Amanda Barnes, Morghen Day, Taylor Dorsey and Jazmin Wiley also return to the squad. Transfers Shernise Robertson and Shadijah Moore will look to make an impact for the Kats.
