Christensen named USTFCCCA All-Academic

Bearkat senior Brek Christensen has been named to the 2014 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team. A total of 496 men from 165 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
The Cy-Fair product was one of more than a dozen Bearkats to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships this past season. Christensen finished 34th in the hammer throw with a mark of 190' 4”.
Christensen, a two-time Academic All-Southland selection, posted a 3.50 grade point average in Kinesiology.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
1. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
2. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Nebraska led all teams with 16 honorees, dethroning the two-year reign of BYU as the best represented squad. The Cougars were next with 15 All-Academic selections. New Mexico and Akron also reached double-digits with 13 and 10, respectively.
