Sam Houston No. 25 in Both FCS Polls

Sam Houston State stands No. 25 in both The Sports Network and FCS Coaches' Poll this week.
The Kats are one of three Southland Conference teams in the FCS rankings. Southeastern Louisiana is ranked No. 3 by The Sports Network and No. 4 in the NCAA Coaches ratings. McNeese State remains No. 6 in both polls.
All three teams represented the Southland Conference in the FCS playoffs last year.
The Kats' No. 25 ranking represents the 42nd consecutive poll for the Bearkats to be in the FCS national polls. In 2011, after a three-year drought, SHSU cracked the Top 25 again on Sept. 9 following a victory over Central Arkansas. The Bearkats have held a spot in the poll ever since. The Bearkats have won 33 games and lost only 13 times in that time span.
Sam Houston rose as high as No. 1 at the end of an 11-0 regular season in 2011.
The Bearkats will begin Southland Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 27, when Sam Houston travels to take on the Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont.
No. 6 McNeese State is the next home opponent for Sam Houston at Homecoming Oct. 11 at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
