Deveney Wells-Gibson and Carling Urben both totaled double figure kills in a four-set loss to TCU at the Horned Frog Molten Classic Friday night in Fort Worth.

TCU defeated the Bearkats 25-21 19-25 25-18 25-16 in the first action for both squads in the tournament.

Wells-Gibson led Sam Houston with 14 kills while Urben added 11 including set point in the second frame for the Bearkats. Ashley Smith led the Horned Frogs with 16 kills.

Michelle Griffith assisted on 40 of Sam Houston's 48 kills. Four Bearkats produced double figure digs as Claire Kilpatrick totaled 18, Wells-Gibson 16, Breana Homer 15 and Giffith 13.

The victory ups TCU to 8-4 for the year. Sam Houston drops to 6-4.

The first set saw 15 ties before the Horned Frogs took control at 21-21 to win four points in a row to go up one set to none.

Sam Houston caught fire in the second set. With the score tied 13-13, the Kats won 12 of the next 18 points. Kills by Wells-Gibson and Urben tied the match at one set apiece.

Down early in the third, the Kats rallied again to even the score at 15-all. The Horned Frogs finished out the set winning 10 of the final 14 points.

TCU jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fourth set and never trailed on the way to closing out the match.

Sam Houston complete play in Fort Worth taking on High Point at 11 a.m. and Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 4 p.m. Saturday.
