Kats travel to No. 10 Texas Tech

The Bearkat soccer team will face their toughest test of the season as they head on the road to play No. 10 Texas Tech in Lubbock at 7 p.m. The Red Raiders are 3-0 this season with a win on the road over ranked Notre Dame.
Sam Houston picked up its first win of the season, 2-1 over Prairie View A&M, last week. The Bearkats got goals from junior midfielders Shelby McDaniel and Mariah Titus. Sophomore forward Allie Johnson scored the Kats only other goal this season, in a narrow loss to UTSA.
This is the highest Texas Tech has ever appeared in the NSCAA poll, breaking the previous mark of 11th that the Red Raiders received on Nov. 5 last year heading into the Big 12 Championship.
The Red Raiders have now been ranked in the NSCAA poll for a school record 13-consecutive weeks dating back to the 2013 season, their longest streak in any of the three polls.
After playing Texas Tech, the Bearkats will return home for six consecutive home matches. SHSU will close out non-conference play with Utah State, Friday, September 12, and TCU will come to Pritchett Field that Sunday.
The Kats open league play with Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word the following weekend.
