Sam Houston ended its trip to Colorado on a winning note Saturday night, defeating Bradley in four sets to complete action at the University of Denver's Pioneer Inviational.
Earlier in the day, the Bearkats fell in three sets to Kansas. The Sam Houston volleyball team now stands 5-2 for the year.
The Kats defeated Bradley 25-17 25-20 24-26 25-20.
Deveney Wells-Gibson led the Bearkats with 17 kills. Brooke White added nine and Shelby Genung totaled six.
Michelle Griffith assisted on 35 Bearkat kills and totaled 12 digs.
Earlier Saturday, Kansas defeated SHSU 25-15 25-17 25-16 as KU upped its season mark to 4-1..
Wells-Gibson led SHSU with six kills. Breana Homer added five and Jordyn Vaughn totaled four. Michelle Griffith assisted on 23 Kat kills and also produced eight digs. Claire Kilpatrick led the team with 10 digs.
Kansas did not trail in either the first or third sets, jumping out to quick 8-3 and 10-5 leads in the respective sets.
The Bearkats had a better start in the second stanza, holding the lead four times with nine ties. Sam Houston's last lead was at 11-10. Kansas won 15 of the final 21 points.
Next week the SHSU volleyball team will play in the University of Houston's tournament, facing Oral Roberts, University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the Cougars.
