89 Fall Athletes On SLC Academic Honor Roll

Sam Houston State's fall sports teams produced 89 student-athletes who have been named to the 2014 fall semester Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The league's Academic Honor Roll acknowledges participants in all sports sponsored by the Southland Conference and its member institutions.
The honor roll is released within 30 days at the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters, recognizing student-athletes who maintained a minimum 3.00 grade point average (GPA) during the semester in which their sport's championship competition occurred.
Among the 89 honorees for Sam Houston were 16 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Ten Bearkats were selected to the Academic All-Southland Conference honor squads for their sports, an award which honors players for both academic excellence and outstanding performances on the field of player.
Academic All-Southland performers by teams were Michelle Griffith, Carling Urben and Deveney Wells-Gibson in volleyball; Madison Bible, Kylie Hambleton, Allie Johnson and Shelby McDanield in soccer and Lachlan Edwards, Keshawn Hill and Luc Swimberghe in football. The Southland does not name an Academic All-Conference team in cross country but honors those students in the spring with an overtime cross country/track and field selection.
