Tyler Adams of Sam Houston State has been selected as the Southland Conference men's field events athlete-of-the-week after a record-setting performance last Friday at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station.
Adams won the men's high jump at the Texas A&M 13-Team Invitational this weekend with a height of seven feet, 0.25 inches.
The Oakwood, Texas (Buffalo H.S.), native set the new meet record and recorded the second best high jump in the Southland this season while ranking second in Sam Houston State indoor history. The freshman helped guide the Bearkats to win the meet among 13 different teams.
Adams' performance bettered his mark of 6' 6.75” in his first college meet in December also at Texas A&M. The freshman placed fourth in the high jump in his first meet as a Bearkat.
Sam Houston State track and field heads to the University of New Mexico Indoor in Albuquerque this weekend.
