Kats dominate at Texas Tech Multi-Events

Led by Tyler Adams who won the men's heptathlon and set a school record in the high jump, Sam Houston State athletes dominated at the Texas Tech Masker Rider multi-events Thursday and Friday in Lubbock.
Adams, Kagan Anders, Jonathan Andrews and Jay Roberson all four posted lifetime bests in the men's heptathlon and three Bearkat women set career marks in the women's pentathlon.
Adams won the men's event with a score of 5,201. The total stands as the second highest in the men's indoor heptathlon in Sam Houston track history. Roberson finished third with 4,860 points, Angers sixth with 4,495 points and Andrews seventh with a 4,474 total.
In the women's pentathlon, Avery Zamzow placed seventh with 3,435 points, Nicole Jenrette eighth with 3,162 points, Francis Porter 10th with a 3,162 total and Sarah Walker 13th with 3,035 points.
Adams won the men's heptathlon high jump with a mark of 7' 1.75”, bettering the school record of 7' 1”. Adams and Angers both finished as the runner-ups in the long jump with a leap of 21' 9.5”.
Adams took first places in two heptathlon running events with times of 8.48 in the 60 meter hurdles and 2:42.66 in the 1,000 meters.
Roberson won the heptathlon pole vault with a 15' 5” height. He was the runner-up in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.61 and was third in the heptathlon shot put with a throw of 37' 8.0”.
For the women, Jenrette placed third in the shot put (37' 0.5”) and fifth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.11).
Zamzow was fourth in the pentathlon long jump (17' 11” and sixth in both the 60 meter hurdles (9.12) and shot put (35' 0.5”). Porter was fifth in the pentathlon 800 meters (2:31.16).
