Three Kats Academic All-Southland

Keshawn Hill, Luc Swimberghe and Lachlan Edwards of Sam Houston State University have been named to the 2014 Academic All-Southland Conference football team.
Only 24 players from the 11 Southland Conference football programs earned the prestigious honor.
Hill, a senior running back, is the only member of the honor squad who has been selected Academic All-Southland three years in a row.
The Academic All-Southland team is voted upon by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors from each Southland Conference university.
Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
Hill, a general business major with a 3.16 overall grade point average, was a first team All-Southland Conference selection as a running back. The senior from Klein led Sam Houston's league championship team in rushing (1,150 yards), scoring (126 points), kickoff returns (23.4 yard average per return) and all-purpose yards (1,722).
Hill completed his four-year career ranked as Sam Houston's fourth in all-time Bearkat rushing (2,546 yards), all-purpose yards (3,934) and scoring.
Swimberghe owns a 3.49 overall grade point average as an accounting major. The sophomore kicking specialist from Tyler earned all-league honors. He accounted for 121 points on 67 extra points and 18 field goals.
The Lindale High School product ranks third in Sam Houston career kick-scoring with 218 total points.
Edwards, a junior kinesiology major, holds a 3.41 overall grade point average. The punter from Hastings, Victoria in Australia, led the Southland Conference and ranked fifth nationally in FCS statistics with a 44.4 average this season. Edwards was a first team All-Southland Conference honoree and received FCS All-America recognition as well.
