
Rachel Harrell of Brock signs with Bearkats

Rachel Harrell from Brock High School in Brock, Texas, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston and play women's basketball for head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols.
Harrell helped lead her team to a 28-7 record as a junior last season. She averaged 12.2 points, 4 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 5.1 assists. She played on Brock's Texas Class 2A state championship squad as a freshman, hitting five three-point shots in the finals.
Harrell was coached by Chance Westmoreland at Brock High School and Marty Murphy with her summer ball club team Texas Fire. She plans to major in kinesiology at Sam Houston.
“We're excited about Rachel becoming a Bearkat,” Sam Houston head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols said. “She's an outstanding player and an outstanding young lady who will fit in well with our program.”
The daughter of Andy and Vanda Harrell, Rachel has one sister Sadie who is 13.
