Sam Houston No. 13 in STATS, No. 18 in Coaches

Following a 27-10 loss to McNeese State last Saturday in Lake Charles, Sam Houston dropped to No. 13 in the STATS FCS media poll and No. 18 in the NCAA Coaches rankings.
McNeese's victory, which clinched at least a tie for the 2015 Southland Conference title, vaulted the Cowboys into the No. 2 spot in the Coaches' poll and No. 3 in the STATS rankings. McNeese stands as one of only two unbeaten teams in the FCS rankings. The other is Harvard with their 8-0 mark.
Sam Houston has two games remaining on the 2015 regular season schedule and must win both to have the opportunity to earn an NCAA at-large berth in the FCS playoffs. The Bearkats are one of only three teams that have been in the playoffs each of the past four seasons.
The Kats play host to Northwestern State Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium. Sam Houston completes its regular season slate at Central Arkansas on Saturday, November 21.
McNeese, Central Arkansas and Sam Houston currently stand first, second and third in the Southland Conference. McNeese is 8-0 in league action and complete their schedule in two weeks against Lamar. UCA is 6-1 in the Southland while the Bearkats are 5-2.
