Sam Houston State lost 5-2 to Chattanooga and 8-0 to South Alabama Saturday in Mobile in the University of South Alabama Softball Classic.
The Mocs opened the Kats' first game Saturday scoring a single run in the top of the first inning and four in the fourth. Chattanooga totaled its five runs on 12 hits.
Center fielder Jessica Slater and left fielder Meme Quinn were credited with RBIs as the Bearkats score a run in both the fourth and fifth frames. Second baseman Dani Allen, shortstop Sarah Allison and right fielder Jennie Kieval also produced hits.
Haley Baros was the losing pitcher for the SHSU women, working three-and-two thirds innings. Tayler Atkinson worked three and a third innings in relief.
South Alabama run-ruled the Bearkats in five innings 8-0. USA totaled nine hits. South Alabama pitcher Devin Brown limited the SHSU women to hits by Tiffany Castillo and Peyton Webb.
Quinn was the losing pitcher for Sam Houston with Atkinson again working in relief.
