Sarah Allison set a school record for most RBIs in one game and both Allison and Angelica Gonzales tied an SHSU mark for most home runs in a contest Saturday in a pair of losses in San Marcos for the Bearkat softball team.
On the second day of the Hampton Inn & Suites Invitational hosted by Texas State, Sam Houston fell 15-6 to the host Bobcats then lost 8-7 to Northern Illinois.
Gonzales went 5-for-7 with two doubles and two home runs in the two games. Both of home runs came in the Texas State game.
Allison's seven RBIs in the nightcap is a new school mark. Two of the RBIs came on homers. The pair's performances marked the 11th and 12th time Bearkat players have two a pair of home runs in a single game.
Gonzales posted four RBIs in the Texas State game with a pair of home runs and double. She hit a two-run homer in the second inning and a two-run double in the third to tie the game 4-4. She added a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Texas State broke the tie with three runs in the top of the fourth inning, two more in the fifth and six in the seven inning. The Bobcats totaled 18 hits.
Peyton Webb went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Bearkats, adding another run in the fourth inning with an RBI single.
Jordan Franks was the losing pitcher for Sam Houston.
Allison's record-setting performance began in the first inning of the Northern Illinois game as she gave the Kats a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single. After NIU jumped out to a 4-1 lead, Allison brought in two more runs with a double to right center in the third inning.
Northern Illinois built an 8-3 lead with three runs in the top of the fourth and one more in the fifth. Allison's solo home run to center field provided a run in the sixth.
A two-out home run by Allison to left field in the seventh inning cut the margin to one run. But NIU retired the Kats for the victory.
Tayler Atkinson was the losing pitcher in the second game for Sam Houston.
The Bearkats complete play in the tournament Sunday with a 10 a.m. against Pittsburgh.
