Kats' 100th Football Season Schedule Announced

The schedule for Sam Houston State's 100th season of college football has been announced.
The defending Southland Conference football champion Bearkats will play an 11-game slate in 2015 that begins with a matchup with Texas Tech in Lubbock on Sept. 5 and features six big home games at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium plus the 90th “Battle of the Piney Woods” at NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans.
One of only three FCS programs to earn NCAA post-season playoff berths each of the past four years, Sam Houston rolled up an 11-5 record, won the league title and reached the FCS semifinals for the third time since 2011.
Head Coach K. C. Keeler and his staff return 57 lettermen from the 2015 team and lost only two senior starters. Seven first or second team All-Southland Conference players return from a squad that finished the year ranked No. 6 nationally in both final FCS polls.
Home games at Bowers Stadium will match the Bearkats against Southland Conference opponents Lamar on September 19, Houston Baptist on September 28, Incarnate Word October 10, Nicholls on October 24 and Northwestern State on November 14. The home schedule also features a non-conference tilt with Texas A&M-Commerce on October 31.
Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin will meet the 90th renewal of the “Battle of the Piney Woods” at NRG Stadium in Houston on Saturday, October 3. Last week, Lone Star Sports Entertainment, SFA and Sam Houston announced that NRG Stadium will be the home of “The Battle” indefinitely.
Road games send the Bearkats to Lubbock for the second football meeting between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Sam Houston.
Other Southland Conference road match-ups take the Kats to Abilene Christian October 17, McNeese State on November 7 and Central Arkansas on November 21.
Sam Houston football season ticket holders can renew their same seats for the 2015 season now. An “Early Bird” on-line renewal runs through Friday, March 20. Season ticket holders may log in through their My Bearkat Account at www.gobearkats.com to new their same seats. After March 20, invoices will be mailed.
Season football ticket prices for 2015 are $290 for reserved chairbacks and $125 for bleacher reserved. Each season ticket package will include all games at Bowers Stadium and the Battle of the Piney Woods at NRG Stadium.
