Tepera called up by Toronto

Former Bearkat pitcher Ryan Tepera was promoted from Buffalo to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday afternoon and will look to make his Major League debut this weekend.
Tepera, who was a 19th round selection by the Blue Jays in 2009, is set to become the 12th Bearkat to appear in a Major League Baseball game.
This season at AAA Buffalo, Tepera had a 1-1 record with a 0.57 ERA in eight appearances. He has pitched in 175 games in the minor league career, posting a record of 49-31 with a 4.17 ERA. Over the last three seasons in AA and AAA baseball, he averages nearly a strikeout an inning.
Tepera was a member of two Sam Houston NCAA regional squads in 2008 and 2009, recording the final out in the 2009 Southland Conference championship game against Texas State-San Marcos. Pitching mostly in relief his season year, Tepera had a 2-1 record. As a starter in 2008 he was 3-3.
Tepera won't have to wait long to return to his home state. The Blue Jays will start a four-game series on May 14 against the Houston Astros.
The last Bearkat to pitch in the majors was Robbie Manuel, who appeared in 10 games for the Boston Red Sox in 2010.
