Tickets for the 90th Battle of the Piney Woods presented by H-E-B go on sale to the general public beginning Tuesday.
This year's rivalry game between Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin, which will be played Saturday, Oct. 3, will be the sixth played at the home stadium of the NFL Houston Texans. NRG Stadium is the new permanent home for the game.
Ticket pricing for the game are $43 for midfield seats, $35 for premium sideline, $30 for sideline corner, $25 for lower corner and $15 foe end zone.
Anyone who purchases 10 or more tickets will receive a group discount on pricing.
Each year crowds for The Battle of the Piney Woods presented by H-E-B have grown. A record 26,788 fans filled the lower bowl at NRG stadium last year. Sam Houston has won each of the last four meetings.
The Southland Conference football championship team has emerged from this games four of the last five years.
"The Battle of the Piney Woods at NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texans, has expanded Sam Houston State University's footprint in the greater Houston area in so many positive ways,” said Bobby Williams, Director of Athletics at Sam Houston State University. “The opportunity it provides for media exposure is outstanding not only for Bearkat athletics but the entire University.

The Battle of the Piney Woods dates back to 1923, making it the third-oldest college football rivalry in the state of Texas. Sam Houston State holds a 52-35-2 edge in the series following last year's victory.
