Lindy's Sports Tabs Kats In Preseason Top 5

Lindy's Sports College Sports National 2015 Preview issue has named Bearkat defensive end P. J. Hall and punter Lachlan Edwards as preseason All-FCS selections and rated Sam Houston No. 3 in its national rankings.
The preview issue, which hit the newsstands earlier this week, picks Kat nemesis North Dakota State to repeat as FCS national champions. Villanova, a team that lost to Sam Houston in the FCS quarterfinals last year, is picked No. 2 by Lindy's Sports.
The magazine also picks Sam Houston to repeat as Southland Conference champions. Lindy's tabs Stephen F. Austin to be the league's runner-up followed by McNeese State, Northwestern State, Central Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist and Nicholls.
Following North Dakota State, Villanova and Sam Houston in Lindy's preseason national predictions are Illinois State at No. 4, Chattanooga No. 5, Jacksonville State No. 6, Coastal Carolina No. 7, Eastern Washington No. 8, New Hampshire No. 9 and South Dakota State No. 10.
Stephen F. Austin stands No. 15 and McNeese State is No. 24 in Lindy's national rankings.
Hall was the Southland Conference "Freshman of the Year" and was the top defensive player finishing third in the voting for the SportsNetwork's Jerry Rice Award as 2014 FCS top freshman. Edwards was a first team selection after leading the Southland in punting last fall.
Sam Houston opens its 2015 schedule in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Sept. 5. The Bearkats will play five home games at Elliott T. Bowers this season plus the 90th “Battle of the Piney Woods” presented by H-E-B at NRG Stadium in Houston.
This fall marks Sam Houston's 100th season of college football.
