
Randi Speiler Signs With Bearkat Bowling

Randi Speiler from Bodfish, California, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston and bowl for Coach Brad Hagen on the Bearkats' nationally-ranked women's squad.
Speiler is a transfer from Bakerfield College in California where she not only earned numerous honors in collegiate play but also compiled a successful resume on the west coast on the Junior Bowlers Tour in tournaments in California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
“Randi has a well-rounded resume from academics to bowling, something we always are looking for in a top recruit,” Hagen said. “She will offer quality depth to what will be a very competitive roster next season. Her personal experiences to date one and off the lanes and her work ethic will be key to her future success.”
Speiler earned her associates degree at Bakersfield College she produced an overall grade point average near 3.7. She will major in criminal justice at Sam Houston.
“Randi's willingness to go above and beyond to do whatever it takes to contribute will make her an excellent addition to this programs future during the next two seasons,” Hagen said.
Among Speiler's most recent accomplishments include winning awards as “Most Improved Bowler of the Year” in the Southern California Conference, an all-star team selection for the Mojave Conference, Southern California Women Series “Bowler of the Year and Mojave Women Series “Bowler of the Year.”
Sam Houston's women's bowling team has been ranked among the NCAA Division I top 10 each of the program's five seasons. The Bearkats were NCAA national champions in 2014 and reached the NCAA Final Four for the second year in a row last April.
