The Southland Conference Football Preview, a two-hour show from the league's Football Media Day, which will be carried Wednesday on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. CT. The 2015 Southland Football Media Day will take place at L'auberge Resort in Lake Charles, La.
Coaches and student-athletes from all 11 Southland football-playing institutions will participate. ESPN3's preview show will be hosted by Lincoln Rose, one of the play-by-play announcers for Southland football broadcasts on ESPN3, and Kelsey Wingert, a sports anchor for KALB-TV Alexandria and sideline reporter for Cox Sports TV.
“We are excited to begin the 2015 season with the Southland Conference Football Preview on ESPN3,” league Commissioner Tom Burnett said. “The network is the primary partner for Southland telecasts as we inaugurate a new five-year broadcast agreement with ESPN Networks, and we appreciate the chance to promote our outstanding football programs, coaches and student-athletes to a wide audience.”
Bearkat head coach K. C. Keeler and preseason all-league defensive end P. J. Hall and quarterback Jared Johnson will represent Sam Houston in the annual event.
One of the highlights of media day will be the announcement of the 2014 Southland preseason head coaches' poll rating from top to bottom how the coaches feel the league title race shapes up. Sam Houston, Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin, the three programs that represented the Southland in last year's FCS playoffs, have been getting the lion's share of the attention in early preseason publications.
Sam Houston will kick off its 100th season of college football in 2015. The Bearkats are one of only three teams that have earned FCS playoff berths each of the last four years (the other two are North Dakota State and New Hampshire). The Kats have won 26 of their last 31 Southland Conference games on the way to three league titles in the last four years.
