The latest installment of Meet the Bearkat volleyball team features Jordyn Vaughn.
The local Huntsville High School product played in all 30 matches as a true freshman for Sam Houston last season. She registered 192 kills including season best 18 at Stephen F. Austin.
Question: How old were you when you started volleyball? 12.
Jordyn: I was 12 years old.
Question: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Jordyn: My first college game here at Sam Houston.
Question: Who is your favorite athlete?
Jordyn: Tayler Gray
Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Jordyn: Friday Night Lights and Gossip Girl
Question: What's the most fun part of volleyball practice?
Jordyn: Any 6-on-6 drill.
Question: What's the least fun part of volleyball practice?
Jordyn: Warming up.
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Jordyn: Anywhere with a beach.
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston?
Jordyn: How close I am to home.
Question: If you didn't play volleyball, what sport would you be playing?
Jordyn: Softball.
Question: Any pre-match superstitions?
Jordyn: I have to wear a certain headband.
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Jordyn: Rap.
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Jordyn: To win a Southland Conference championship ring with my team.
Question: What are your hobbies?
Jordyn: Painting and sand volleyball.
Question: What is your favorite food?
Jordyn: Ice cream.

Jordyn:Instagram

Jordyn: Christmas.

Jordyn: Out-going, witty, competitive
Question: What piece of advice would you give to younger players?
Jordyn: Don't give up and keep working hard because it will all pay off.
Jordyn Vaughn and the rest of the Bearkats begin the 2015 volleyball season on Friday and Saturday August 28-29 with four matches in the annual Sam Houston Invitational Tournament at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
