
Q & A With Volleyball's Breanna Homer

The fourth installment of Meet the Bearkat volleyball team features Breanna Homer.
A junior outside hitter from LaGrange, she has played in every Sam Houston match the past two seasons, totaling 741 career digs and 159 kills.
Sam Houston has earned eight consecutive Southland Conference tournament berths and finished among the top three teams in the league's final regular
Question: How old were you when you started volleyball?
Breanna: I was around 12 years old when I started playing volleyball. I always wanted to play but my first love was softball.
Question: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Breanna: So far, my favorite memory was before the Central Arkansas game. We were so pumped and had all the energy in the world. By far the funnest moment.
Question: Who is your favorite athlete?
Breanna: Dwayne Wade who plays for the Miami Heat. He's been one of my favorite athletes for years now.
Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Breanna: I love the Food Network. I will watch it all day when I have the chance.
Question: What's the most fun part of volleyball practice?
Breanna: When we are just playing against each other 6 on 6! That's the best part!
Question: What's the least fun part of volleyball practice?
Breanna: The basketball drill is by far the worst part when we practice and any kind of conditioning!
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Breanna: I would visit Australia if I could go anywhere. It's far away from the U.S. and I just want to experience a different way people live.
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston?
Breanna: The atmosphere is great, the people are great, and all around everything about it is GREAT!
Question: If you didn't play volleyball, what sport would you be playing?
Breanna: I would be playing softball for sure. Softball is my natural sport.
Question: Any pre-match superstitions?
Breanna: No I don't really have any superstitions. I like to pray before I play and reflect on how I want to perform that game.
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Breanna: Any kind of up beat songs or rap music will get me pumped before the game.
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Breanna: To get after it everyday and give it my all. I also want to win a ring this year with my girls!
Question: What are your hobbies?
Breanna: Sleeping is by far my favorite hobby. I make sure that I will have a nap before each practice.
Question: What is your favorite food?
Breanna: I think I have an addiction to pizza. It is just so good and make my taste buds feel wonderful. I can't eat pizza too often.
Question: What social media site do you use the most?
Breanna: Mostly Instagram
Question: What is your favorite holiday?
Breanna: Thanksgiving. My whole family gets together and just enjoys each others company. Oh and the food is fantastic.
Question: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
Breanna: Passionate, caring, determined
Question: What piece of advice would you give to younger players.
Breanna: Follow yours dreams no matter what anyone else thinks. If your heart is with something do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Also, people tell you that your college years go by fast and you do not really understand what they are saying when they say that. But it really does fly by, I remember when I was a freshman now I'm a junior. Enjoy every moment of it because it can be gone in a blink of an eye.
Breanna Homer and the rest of the Bearkats begin the 2015 volleyball season on Friday and Saturday August 28-29 with four matches in the annual Sam Houston Invitational Tournament at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
