Q & A With Volleyball's Taylor Cunningham

Today's installment of “Meet the Bearkat Volleyball Team” features one of the newcomers to the 2015 squad.
Taylor Cunningham is a hometown Huntsville product who was a two-time first team all-district selection for the Hornets and was named district “Most Valuable Player” after leading Huntsville to the championship as a senior. A top student as well, she played club volleyball for Brazos Valley Juniors.
Question: How old were you when you started volleyball?
Taylor: I was 12
Question: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Taylor: My favorite volleyball memory was my signing day to play volleyball at Sam Houston State University.
Question: Who is your favorite athlete?
Taylor: Serena Williams
Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Taylor: Orange is the New Black & The Walking Dead
Question: What's the most fun part of volleyball practice?
Taylor: Any kind of defensive drill or when I get to play defense because it's my favorite part of volleyball. Also when I get to set because it is my spirt position in volleyball.
Question: What's the least fun part of volleyball practice?
Taylor: There is nothing I think that is not fun about volleyball although I heard the warmups are not all that fun.
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Taylor: Bora Bora
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston State?
Taylor: Definitely all of the wonderful hills you get to walk up and down on campus.
Question: If you didn't play volleyball, what sport would you be playing?
Taylor: Cheerleading
Question: Any pre-match superstitions?
Taylor: Putting my ankle braces on left then right every time & listening to music before games
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Taylor: Music with a good beat that I can dance to. Specifically, I like to listen to Big Sean.
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Taylor: Of course to get first in the conference regular season and win the conference tournament, but also to win freshman of the year.
Question: What are your hobbies?
Taylor: Shopping & napping
Question: What is your favorite food?
Taylor: Mexican food & potatoes
Question: What social media site do you use the most?
Taylor: Snapchat
Question: What is your favorite holiday?
Taylor: Christmas
Question: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
Taylor: Comical, Always smiling, Outgoing,
Question: What piece of advice would you give to younger players?
Taylor: Never think that you can't do anything because if you want something so badly you can have it, if you work at it.
Taylor Cunningham and the Bearkats begin their 2015 schedule this weekend when the team plays host to Montana State, UTSA and Prairie View A&M in the annual Sam Houston Volleyball Invitational Friday and Saturday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
