Q & A With Volleyball's Sarah Guzman

The fourth installment of Meet the Bearkat volleyball team features Sarah Guzman.
A junior outside hitter from Corpus Christi, is a two-year letter winner for the Bearkats who came to Sam Houston after an outstanding high school career at King High School.
Sam Houston has earned eight consecutive Southland Conference tournament berths and finished among the top three teams in the league's final regular season standings each of the last five years.
Question: How old were you when you started volleyball?
Sarah: I was 12 years old.
Question: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Sarah: My junior year of high school when we went to state.
Question: Who is your favorite athlete?
Sarah: Kerri Walsh.
Question: What are your favorite TV shows?
Sarah: The Voice, The Bachelor and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Question: What's the most fun part of volleyball practice?
Sarah: I would either say when we're doing mini competition games, or when we're playing 6 on 6. It gets pretty intense.
Question: What's the least fun part of volleyball practice?
Sarah: When coach takes us outside to warm up.
Question: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Sarah: Probably Bora Bora.
Question: What is your favorite thing about Sam Houston State?
Sarah: Just the atmosphere it gives off and the awesome friends that I've made here.
Question: If you didn't play volleyball, what sport would you be playing?
Sarah: Softball.
Question: Any pre-match superstitions?
Sarah: Not really, just go with our usual routine.
Question: What music pumps you up to play?
Sarah: Any type of music I can dance too!
Question: What are your personal goals heading into the season?
Sarah: To get a ring and go out with a bang.
Question: What are your hobbies?
Sarah: Really just hanging out with friends or doing any kind of sporting activity.
Question: What is your favorite food?
Sarah: I love it all.
Question: What social media site do you use the most?
Sarah: Twitter
Question: What is your favorite holiday?
Sarah: Christmas of course!
Question: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
Sarah: Calm, stubborn, and fun!
Question: What piece of advice would you give to younger players
Sarah: Always give your best on and off the court, and always be a good teammate no matter what the circumstance may be.
Sarah Guzman and the rest of the Bearkats begin the 2015 volleyball season on Friday and Saturday August 28-29 with four matches in the annual Sam Houston Invitational Tournament at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
