Sam Houston No. 12 and 14 in FCS polls

Sam Houston remained No. 12 in the STATS FCS media poll and No. 14 in the NCAA Coaches rankings after the fourth weekend of action for the 2015 season.
The Bearkats defeated Houston Baptist 63-14 Saturday in Huntsville. Since Sam Houston cracked the FCS top 25 in September 2011 on the way to a Southland Conference championship and the NCAA National Championship game, the Kats have been included in the top 25 for 53 of the past 59 national polls.
Averaging 635.3 yards total offense and 51.3 points per game this season, Sam Houston stands No. 1 among FCS teams in scoring, No. 2 in both scoring and passing yards, No. 5 in first downs and No. 10 in rushing offense.
Sam Houston is one of three Southland Conference teams in the FCS rankings. Southeastern Louisiana stands No. 22 in the STATS FCS poll and No. 19 in the Coaches' rankings. McNeese State is ranked No. 23 in STATS and No. 15 by the coaches.
The Bearkats and Stephen F. Austin meet this Saturday at 3 p.m. at NRG Stadium in the 90th “Battle of the Piney Woods” presented by H-E-B. Tickets are available on line at www.gobearkats.com and at the Sam Houston athletic ticket office located on the west side of Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
